About Me

Welcome to my humble little blog!  This is where I come to post
photos and random musings about my three favorite things:  My family, my
photography and my newly-revived hobby of knitting & crocheting.  I
can't always guarantee that
I'll update daily--or even weekly--but I do try!

I graduated from Millersville University in Millersville, PA in 1997 and married my "college sweetheart" Corey in 1999.  Our first son, Trevor, was born in 2000 and our second son, Aaron soon followed in 2002.

I've been employed full-time since 1999 by the transportation sector of Applied Research Associates.  In a nutshell, my office collects & analyzes highway, street and runway surface data for a wide range of
clients including states, municipalities & military.

Since 2007 I've
been self-employed part-time as a child & family lifestyle
photographer, although I've been on hiatus for a little over a year
now.  I'm still in limbo over taking paid sessions again this year, since it's quite difficult to keep up with the process while working a full-time
day job and taking care of (and being with) my family.  Come what may, however, photography will always be a big part of my daily existence!

As for the recent resurgence of my long-lost hobby of knitting & crocheting:  I suspect it has a lot to do with the fact that I'm on a computer 24/7 either at work or at home editing photos (or Facebooking or what-have-you!)  Combine that with my love for creating and it's the perfect second hobby for me.  I've known how to crochet since my grandmother taught me in grade school, and I eventually taught myself basic knitting in college.  I'm currently learning some more advanced knitting techniques, like cables (wish me luck!)

I hope you enjoy your visit here, and please leave a comment to let me know you dropped by!  I would love to visit your blog, too! ;)

Hey Guess What?!?

I’m going to be an aunt!!! After 35 years of, well…not being an aunt…I’ll finally get to be called “Aunt Kristi!” The little bib in the photo is what my brother and sister-in-law wrapped in a box and gave to my mom at a recent picnic to let her know she was going to be “Grammy” for the third time. :-)

I’m pullin’ for a girl. This side of the family is seriously overdue for a girl. Like, 35 years overdue! ;-)

Rude Awakening

Literally. At 2:30 AM. Lightning. Thunder. A lot of rain. A lot of WIND. One of the strongest lines of thunderstorms in perhaps several years passed through overnight and left us a lovely present in the back yard. It also put our new generator to the test (and it works quite well, thank you very much). But wow, what a textbook bow echo on the radar loop:

And our backyard after a 30-foot section of locust tree came tumbling down, luckily missing the shed:

There is another chance for storms overnight tonight. Hopefully they will play nice this time.

The Joys of a Front Porch

One thing that was on the “must have” list when we were house shopping last year was a front porch. Our last house had a back porch and a deck, but it’s just not the same as a front porch where you can sit and watch the neighborhood happenings. We all love hanging out on the porch on a warm summer evening.

I recently decided to grab the camera and document one of our many porch outings when the boys started acting zany. And yeah…another advantage of the porch is that it provides great portrait lighting! :-)

Enjoy…

Lately, Trevor has been all about showing off the two most recent empty spaces in his teeth. He lost both of these within one week of each other:

Be Back Soon

I have tons of photos to start sharing, as soon as I finish up a few things I’ve been working on. Since returning to full-time hours at my day job, I’ve been spending most evenings reorganizing all of my digital images. My hard drive and two external drives were nearly full, so I cleaned up and organized everything. Even though my two externals are mirrors of one another, I’ve decided I’m still going to archive everything to DVD as well. I guess I’m a little on the paranoid side, but you never know, right? So I’ve started doing that as well. Lastly, I purchased two additional external drives to pick up where the two previous ones left off.

I’ve also been spending considerable time getting caught up on some personal photo editing, which I’m way, way WAYYY behind on! I was once a prolific scrapbooker, but I won’t dare tell you how long it’s been since I last sat down and put together a layout. Of course, it doesn’t help that I don’t have many of my personal photos edited and printed for the purpose of scrapping, now does it?!?

On a totally unrelated note: I can’t wait to go see this.

Be back soon!
