About Me

Welcome to my humble little blog!  This is where I come to post
photos and random musings about my three favorite things:  My family, my
photography and my newly-revived hobby of knitting & crocheting.  I
can't always guarantee that
I'll update daily--or even weekly--but I do try!

I graduated from Millersville University in Millersville, PA in 1997 and married my "college sweetheart" Corey in 1999.  Our first son, Trevor, was born in 2000 and our second son, Aaron soon followed in 2002.

I've been employed full-time since 1999 by the transportation sector of Applied Research Associates.  In a nutshell, my office collects & analyzes highway, street and runway surface data for a wide range of
clients including states, municipalities & military.

Since 2007 I've
been self-employed part-time as a child & family lifestyle
photographer, although I've been on hiatus for a little over a year
now.  I'm still in limbo over taking paid sessions again this year, since it's quite difficult to keep up with the process while working a full-time
day job and taking care of (and being with) my family.  Come what may, however, photography will always be a big part of my daily existence!

As for the recent resurgence of my long-lost hobby of knitting & crocheting:  I suspect it has a lot to do with the fact that I'm on a computer 24/7 either at work or at home editing photos (or Facebooking or what-have-you!)  Combine that with my love for creating and it's the perfect second hobby for me.  I've known how to crochet since my grandmother taught me in grade school, and I eventually taught myself basic knitting in college.  I'm currently learning some more advanced knitting techniques, like cables (wish me luck!)

I hope you enjoy your visit here, and please leave a comment to let me know you dropped by!  I would love to visit your blog, too! ;)

A Fun Fall Photo Session!

On Thursday evening I had the pleasure of photographing the “B” family again. We enjoyed walking the Dickinson College campus and found some great spots for their fall photo session.

The setting sun provided warm, yummy backlighting:

Little J has the cutest pout:

This red door provided a delicious backdrop:

Are they cute or what?!?!?:

You can tell this family loves to have fun!:

Thanks B family for a fun session! I will be in touch soon with your full proof gallery!

Our Family Has Grown!

About a month ago, I started combing newspapers and online ads for a kitten. I really enjoyed having cats before the boys were born, and had recently started wanting a cat again. I first put in an application for a cute black kitten at Petsmart, but disappointingly never got a call from the agency that runs the cat adoption center there. Just as I was about to call them to see what was up, I found an ad on Craigslist for two gray and white 10-week-old twin brothers. Now, two kittens weren’t exactly part of the original plan, but these two had been together since birth and the owner really wanted to see them adopted together. So, how could I resist?!? I emailed about the ad and received a phone call within the hour. After a 15-minute conversation, I was told the little boys would be ours! Sammy and Mikey arrived Sunday morning and have been having a blast with us ever since!

This is Sammy…he has a diamond on his nose:

Two more of Sammy:

And heeere’s Mikey!

Mikey again:

Just what I needed…two more boys who act like this!

And what kitten doesn’t enjoy chasing a laser pen light around?!?

The biggest problem with Sammy and Mikey is telling them apart. Sammy has the diamond on his nose while Mikey has a thick stripe on his nose, but when they are facing away they look EXACTLY alike. I guess it’s not enough that I have identical twin nieces to confuse me, I had to go and adopt twin kittens too! :-D

Here He…or She…Is!!!

My brother and sister-in-law went for their 4-month ultrasound last week and much to my chagrin…decided NOT to find out the gender! Aaahhh!!! I don’t know if I can wait ’til February! Anyway, they emailed some pics of the little stinker that I thought I would share! Can you tell I’m excited to finally be an aunt?!? :-)

Have a great weekend!
