About Me

Welcome to my humble little blog!  This is where I come to post
photos and random musings about my three favorite things:  My family, my
photography and my newly-revived hobby of knitting & crocheting.  I
can't always guarantee that
I'll update daily--or even weekly--but I do try!

I graduated from Millersville University in Millersville, PA in 1997 and married my "college sweetheart" Corey in 1999.  Our first son, Trevor, was born in 2000 and our second son, Aaron soon followed in 2002.

I've been employed full-time since 1999 by the transportation sector of Applied Research Associates.  In a nutshell, my office collects & analyzes highway, street and runway surface data for a wide range of
clients including states, municipalities & military.

Since 2007 I've
been self-employed part-time as a child & family lifestyle
photographer, although I've been on hiatus for a little over a year
now.  I'm still in limbo over taking paid sessions again this year, since it's quite difficult to keep up with the process while working a full-time
day job and taking care of (and being with) my family.  Come what may, however, photography will always be a big part of my daily existence!

As for the recent resurgence of my long-lost hobby of knitting & crocheting:  I suspect it has a lot to do with the fact that I'm on a computer 24/7 either at work or at home editing photos (or Facebooking or what-have-you!)  Combine that with my love for creating and it's the perfect second hobby for me.  I've known how to crochet since my grandmother taught me in grade school, and I eventually taught myself basic knitting in college.  I'm currently learning some more advanced knitting techniques, like cables (wish me luck!)

I hope you enjoy your visit here, and please leave a comment to let me know you dropped by!  I would love to visit your blog, too! ;)

An Announcement & A Few More of Ella

Before I finally (after a month!) get around to posting some photos, I have an announcement to make. I’ve already told my friends, family, a few colleagues and a client I ran into at the store…but it’s time I make it known to everyone. This year I will not be taking any paid photo sessions. My original goal for this year was to cut my work hours back and gradually work in more photo sessions; however, with several huge projects being taken on at my day job it’s just going to be too difficult to run my photography business. I refuse to try and spread myself too thin and get myself to the point where I’m giving less than 100% to my clients or my day job. Not to mention my family!

Another factor that weighed heavily into my decision was the fact that I have neglected my own personal photos for what seems like forever. I would really like to take the time this year and get caught up on personal photo editing and (gasp!) perhaps even get them scrapbooked!!! I’ve also been dying to get some coffee table books printed up featuring some of our recent family adventures!

I certainly hope no one gets the impression that I’m going away forever. It’s just for this year only! Next year I will most definitely be cutting my work hours back and putting a huge effort into getting my business back up and running. This will also give me the time to get some of my coworkers at my day job trained in some of my responsibilities so that I will be in a position to cut my hours back when the time comes.

Anyway, without further ado, I wanted to post some photos I took of Ella when she was a week old (a little belated, I know :P ). Enjoy!

Yesterday I babysat Ella while her mom and dad could go out for their first “post baby” date. I took lots of photos with my new 5D MarkII which I hope to be sharing in another day or two!
